December 12: Don’t take anything personally

“Don’t take anything personally. Nothing others do is because of you. What others say or do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.”

Oh, I like this very much. This is taken from Ruiz’s book, “The Four Agreements.” I take everything personally, even though my first reaction is always one of stunned disbelief (ARE YOU CHALLENGING ME?). Well, I don’t like feeling stupid and I hate being wrong. And even though I know that when others lash out or try to manipulate my emotions, that it’s about them and not me, it can be hard to remember.

So today we’re going to try to remember. And while we’re at it, let’s try not projecting our own reality and agenda on others as well. (T-Dub, this means laying off the judgmental bullshit!)

Everyone just be cool, okay?

OMG – I’m so knocked around this past few days. Cause someone was ever so flirty and I figured that gf he mentioned must be gone. Alas, no. Why do people who’ve had a marriage break down due to infidelity, then proceed to flirt intensely with me when they are in a relationship?!

And last week, I was inadvertently forwarded a copy of an email where I was discussed as ‘weird’ ‘a punish’ and being ‘flicked to someone else’ to deal with. Oooof. Rough two weeks of other people’s sh*t influencing my disposition.

Sarah! What the actual WHAT! First of all, your office is terrible and you are not weird or a punish. Forget them. You rule.

Second of all, what a creep … no one needs you, dude.

I can see how that would be a trial. Good lord. People suckkkkkkkk. Um, how long do you have to work there again?

The second bit, that wasn’t in a work environment, thankfully – though was a professional service provider.

Contract is til April, every hour is more dollars, but I am less and less inclined to continue on. Just means finding an alternative job in the new year.
